When to go
December to March is considered the best time, being the driest season on the west and south coasts, in the cultural triangle and the hill country.
The east coast is best visited from May to September, when many of the beaches along the west and south coasts are experiencing the monsoon. Even in the monsoon months it is possible to travel around for it does not rain all the time. The temperatures are high throughout, staying close to an average of 27 degrees Celsius.
Getting there
Direct Sri Lankan Airlines flights are available from the UK to Colombo. Other options include Emirates (via Dubai) and Qatar airways (via Doha). Several flights to Colombo are also available from the Indian subcontinent (including Delhi, Mumbai, Goa and Bangalore).
