n 1992, after a decade of wide-ranging travels around the subcontinent, writer, photographer and broadcaster David Abram teamed up with three other Indo-philes from London to write a completely new guide to India - one which set out to cover not merely its sights, restaurants and hotels, but also its rich cultural heritage, performing arts scene and contemporary politics.
The ground-breaking Rough Guide to India instantly became the book of choice for travellers wanting more than a superficial take on the country. Described by Condé Nast as "the Bible for any visitor", it’s now in its tenth edition.
David has since gone on to author a stable of spin off titles, including the best selling Rough Guide to Kerala, as well as numerous regional guides to India for other publishers, and articles for newspapers and magazines, from the Sunday Times to Wanderlust.
He also co-presented the Global Update travel show on BBC Radio One, and regularly appears on radio and television to enthuse about his latest subcontinental discoveries.
