Happy New Year

13 Apr, 2012 by Emily Sawyers

Lanterns used in celebration

Nothing compares to the excitement of being in a country for a traditional festival or celebration. Some Southeast Asian countries are celebrating their New Year this weekend making this one of the most exciting and vibrant times to visit. This said we are also very lucky to have a taste of several Asian festivities in London this week.

Yesterday St Martin’s Courtyard in Covent Garden was transformed into a miniature Thailand to celebrate Songkran, the Thai festival of water. You can find further details of this and other Thai celebrations in England by following this link: http://londonist.com/2012/04/celebrate-thai-new-year-songkran-in-london-...

On Saturday Burmese New Year celebrations are coming to Ealing. There will be a traditional religious ceremony in the morning and then singing, dancing and sharing food in the evening. Please follow this link for more information about this event: http://www.sasanaramsiuk.org/eng/wp-content/uploads/Thingyan2012LeafletW...

If you would like to know more about visiting any of the destinations that we cover during a festival, please don't hesitate to give us a ring.
