Tours to Kumbalgarh

Constructed by Rana Kumbah of Chittaugarh, this dramatic Rajput fort occupies an eagle’s nest position atop a mountain peak high in the Aravalli hills. Come in the rainy season, when mist swirls around its 32km of ramparts, and you’ll appreciate whey the Mahal crowning the complex is dubbed the ‘Cloud Palace’. Under clear winter skies, however, the vistas through its arched windows extend across a scrubby plateau scattered with ancient Jain temples and Hindu shrines to the distant plains of southern Rajasthan. Only the great Mughal emperor Akbar ever successfully besieged the fort – by poisoning its water supply.
