Tours to Temple festivals, Kerala

Every temple in Kerala stages at least one annual festival, or utsavam in its compound. These events range in size, but all feature the same mix of sumptuously attired elephants, drum orchestras, firework displays and recitals of ritual art forms such as Kathakali theatre and Mohinattyam dance. After dark, festivities are conducted by the light of flickering firebrands and oil lamps.
