The Dickwella Lace Centre has been set up to help revive traditional lace-making, support local craftswomen and create new livelihoods opportunities for poor communities.

Hiyare Rainforest Reserve Excursion:
600 acre rainforest conservation area incorporating Trees 4 Life nursery and bio diversity education centre. Location: 25 minute drive inland of Galle. Attractions/activities:
2km guided rainforest trail (flat, easy walk around reservoir – suitable for all fitness levels) – guided by local volunteer naturalist
Wildlife - 115 birds, 77 butterflies, 54 dragonflies, 41 reptiles, 32 fish & 28 frogs
Battery operated boat trip on reservoir (small groups – maximum 4) – additional cost, see below
