Day 1 My Tho

Transfer from the deluxe Renaissance Riverside Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City to the delta port of My Tho by coach to board your cruise. In the afternoon moor near Cai Be and explore evergreen islands and the former Imperial residence, the An Kiet House.

Day 2 Cai Be

Take a morning junk trip around Cai Be to see a floating market, and go ashore to visit the French Gothic Cathedral and colourful port area. Also visit a Bonsai Garden, fruit farm, a brick and pottery factory at Vinh Long.

Day 3 Chau Doc / Border Crossing

Explore the canals and backwaters by local ferry boat. At Chau Doc, visit a Cham tribal village. You take a trishaw ride round this fascinating French colonial town and see its bustling market. Return to the ship and cast off for the Cambodian border.

Day 4 Phnom Penh

Morning tour the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, and visit Wat Ounalom, Wat Phnom and Wat Lang Ka. Also see the Silver Pagoda and National Museum. An afternoon excursion is arranged to the Killing Fields and the Khmer Rouge’s grim Tuol Sleng or S21 detention centre.

Day 5 Kampong Cham

Early morning departure and stop at the little-known Chong Koh silk weaving village for a morning walk at leisure. Cruise past the Mekong’s timeless villages and river life with extensive fishing activities. In the afternoon stop at Peam Chi Kang village to visit the monastery and school.

Day 6 Kampong Cham Area

Morning journey upriver to the hilltop pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey. Travel by coach to the Angkorian temple of Wat Nokor, continue to the eco village of Cheungkok and visit the Kampong Cham orphanage, supported by the Pandaw Trust programme.

Day 7 Tonle River

Sail the Tonle River which connects Tonle Lake with the Mekong and Bassac Rivers that merge at Phnom Penh. This river journey is a highlight of the trip. Temples abound along the river banks at Kampong Chhnang, and you see the rich tapestry of Cambodian rural life. Here a stunning variety of birdlife may also be seen.

Day 8 Tonle Sap-Siem Reap

Cross the vast Tonle Lake, passing tranquil floating fishing villages to reach Siem Reap by lunchtime.
