Writer, photographer and traveller, Serena Fass first visited South India in 1969 and Sri Lanka in 1980, and has returned to the Sub-continent many times, often at the invitation of royal families. She has known many of the Indian Royal Family since 1970 when, on behalf of HH the Maharaja of Baroda, she and her sister Virginia spent three days photographing the many royal palaces for Virginia's book 'Palaces of India'. Serena produced 'Faces of India', an anthology of poetry illustrating her photographs, in aid of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Serena set up her own travel company, Serenissima, for which she led lecture tours throughout India for many years. She has also visited Chennai, Cochin, Colombo and Kandy with tour groups while lecturing on Noble Caledonia cruises. Serena lectures regularly at the Royal Geographical Society, at the Nehru Centre and at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Recent lectures include those in aid of the Jaipur Virasat Foundation, a charity established for the restoration of Jaipur (of which Serena is a patron) and the Asian Tsunami Fund Appeal.
She has also lectured on Kashmir to promote the return of tourists to the valley, as well as Iraq, Iran and Lebanon.
