Assam, Nagaland and the One-horned Rhino
16 days tour from £3599
Introduction - Assam, Nagaland and the One-horned Rhino
With the mighty Brahmaputra flowing through it, Assam is best known for its eponymous tea, primaeval forests, and wildlife. The grasslands and forests of Kaziranga are among the last strongholds of the one-horned rhinoceros.
Perhaps less well known is the cultural heritage of this region, including the Ahom palaces of Sibsagar and the Vaishnavite monasteries of Majuli. The enchanting forested hills of Nagaland are home to many tribes, each with its own traditions, language and attire. We also see some ancient temples, the ruins of Kacheri, and WW2 monuments. The rich cultural heritage of Kolkata is part of the experience.
You travel by yourself on a departure date of your choice.
The accommodation, though comfortable, is mid-range to basic, except in Kolkata, where it is a period, luxury hotel.
