Visiting: India
9 day tour from £1495
group (no more than 16 people) or private tour
Kerala is now a sought after destination for its pristine beaches and beguiling backwaters, but there is so much more to see and experience here.
This tour introduces you to the essential elements of Kerala; the Ghats, the hill plantations, a culturally aware population with a rich legacy of festival and dance, wildlife and birds and, yes, the wonderful backwaters and palm fringed beaches. The colonial port of Cochin intrigues with its Portuguese, Jewish, Dutch and British past; sites visited include the elegantly cantilevered Chinese fishing nets, the synagogue and St Francis, the oldest European church in all India.
We head to the Western Ghats, to the estates of tea plantations in Munnar and the spice gardens of Periyar, walking in the jungle, viewing elephants and other wildlife. We experience a cruise on the unforgettable backwaters and finish at Kovalam's wonderful beach.
You travel with a small group, accompanied by one of our excellent hand-picked tour escorts. You can also follow the itinerary independently as a private tour.
Internal travel is by a air-conditioned coach or car.
The flights are on award-winning Emirates, via Dubai.
