Introduction - Myanmar Discovery
As well as the country’s main sights, this trip features visits to some very off-the-beaten-path locations, seldom visited by foreigners.
Starting in Yangon, spend some time getting to know the fascinating former capital with its crumbling British-era buildings, and fascinating narrow streets. Fly north to Mandalay and explore the ancient former capitals that surround the city. Travel out into the mountains and visit the hillstation town of Pyin Oo Lwin, favoured by the British to escape the heat of the plains.
Travel further into Shan state, and spend some time exploring from the mountain town of Hsipaw. Travel north to Mogok, visiting a little explored area before continuing south to Bagan via Monywa. After spending some time seeing the many pagodas at Bagan, fly to Heho, and visit charming Pindaya. After a night here, continue to Inle Lake to relax and enjoy the serenity. Take a short flight to remote Kentung and explore an area inhabited by ethnic Ahku people. After some gentle trekking in this fascinating area, fly back to Yangon for a night before returning to the UK.
You travel independently on a departure date of your choice. Internal travel is by plane, boat and air-conditioned car.
