Fly to Muscat. Transfer to the boutique Chedi for three nights (an upgrade to the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort is available).
Visit the Natural History Museum and the Omani Museum, as well as Muscat Old Town, the Palace of Sultan Qaboos and the forts Jabali and Mirani.
Drive along the fertile Batinah Plain to visit Bait Na'am, continuing onto the forts at Rustaq and Nakhl, passing through picturesque wadis (riverbeds) along the way.
Follow the scenic coast road to Sur via the fishing village of Quriyat and the beautiful lagoon and lush vegetation of Wadi Shab, Stay at the standard grade Sur Plaza hotel for one night.
Sur has a long tradition of dhow building; in the morning visit the dhowyard to see boats being built in the traditional way. Afterwards, proceed to Wahibah desert for an exciting dune drive before continuing on to Nizwa. Check into the first class Falaj Daris hotel for the night.
In the morning visit the 17th century Nizwa Fort, noted for its enormous round tower. Then, wander through the colourful souq before continuing on to Bhala to see its UNESCO-listed fort. After visiting the beautiful Jabrin Castle return to Muscat and stay at The Chedi for one night.
Transfer to the airport and board your return flight. Alternatively you may wish to extend your holiday in Oman.
