This introductory tour to Sri Lanka, ideal for first time visitors with limited time, begins with a couple of nights in this tropical island's busy capital, Colombo, and continues on to the 'Cultural Triangle' - Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy.
Anuradhapura is an important historical site, where Buddhism first came to Sri Lanka, and was the country's capital for 1,300 years. The medieval capital, Polonnaruwa, on the shores of a large lake, has a number of historic ruins.
Kandy was the last Sinhalese Capital before the British took over in 1815, and remains an important religious centre for Buddhism, being home to the temple containing Buddha's sacred tooth.
You travel by yourself on a departure date of your choice.
Internal travel is by private chauffeur-driven car, and the international flights on direct services of Sri Lankan Airlines.
