Nishma is our cheerful, ultra-meticulous flight consultant – the back-room person who makes sure all our ticketing runs seamlessly. She first specialized in this line of work in her home country, Kenya, and has made good use of the air miles, courses and other perks offered by airlines to people in her job to see a great deal of the world for free. Being married to a man who attends international pharma conferences twice each year has also enabled her to do a fair bit of globetrotting. Suffice to say, the only continent she hasn’t explored to date is Antarctica, and that’s squarely in her sights for 2018!
At home in London, Nishma loves to cook vegetarian food, and is a multi-prize-winning flower arranger. She also enjoys “long walks and anything to do with dancing”.
Annapurna Base Camp, Nepal. “My husband and I once trekked to the Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal. The scenery was magnificent from start to finish – mountain villages, Alpine meadows, high glaciers and, of course, close-up views of some of the world’s highest summits. The camp itself is at an altitude of 4,131m and was under a foot of snow when we arrived.”
Manvar Desert Camp, Rajasthan. “Manvar is located 110km from Jodhpur in a tract of yellow dunes and khejri trees. Its luxurious tents provide a wonderful base for drives by 4WD into the Thar Desert. You can also walk to local villages and do short camel treks if you want. We loved the light and sense of space – and the amazing starry skies at night!”
“I’d recommend Ubud in Bali to anyone. The town is surrounded by beautiful terraced rice-farming villages, tropical forest, hills and magical Hindu shrines. It’s a major centre for traditional arts and crafts, so the shopping is some of the most inspiring in Indonesia. And there are some gorgeous boutique hotels to choose from.”
