Only accessible by boat along the Kinabatangan River, the standard grade Abai Jungle Lodge is a secluded property in the heart of the cacophony of Bornean wildlife calls, 1 hour from Sandakan. Built on stilts, the 24 en-suite wooden rooms are surrounded by jungle boardwalks and watch towers allowing for easy exploration of the surrounding rainforest and providing pleasant areas to relax and unwind. The restaurant, located right on the river, employs village residents and serves locally harvested food. The freshwater prawns are an absolute delight.
