Galle, Galle and the South Coast, Sri Lanka

Set within the fort’s walls, Amangalla has one of the most iconic addresses in Galle. Dating back to 1684, the hotel still holds its nostalgic charm with polished wooden floors and antique paintings throughout. Each of the 28 Rooms and Signature Rooms has four poster beds, high ceilings and tall windows overlooking the gardens and Galle Fort ramparts.

Start your day with a morning yoga session in the pavilion. The hotel’s spa, The Baths, uses the power of water to rejuvenate and is where to head after a busy day exploring Galle’s sites. There are two hydrotherapy suites and an Ayurvedic doctor is available for creating personalised treatments.

Dine under the chandeliers of the grand Dining Room or enjoy afternoon tea on the breezy terrace. You can also accompany the chef as he sources the local produce from Galle’s markets before returning for a cookery lesson in Sri Lankan cuisine.
