Rajasthan, India

A comfortable, atmospheric place to break the long journey between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer is the Manvar Desert Camp. It comprises two different sections. The first, just off the main road, is a small, sensitively designed resort whose architecture takes its cue from local thatch and adobe villages.

The second part is a camp located 6km away in the desert proper, comprising spacious luxury tents with colourful interiors and tiled en-suite bathrooms. Local entertainment is laid on around the bonfire in the evenings and during the day you can head off on camels or by jeep in search of gazelles, desert cats and wild peacocks, as well as rare demoiselle cranes.

Our opinion

An atmospheric option for a night under the stars accompanied by good food and local music.
