India is perhaps better known for its culture than nature, but the country encompasses some of the most breathtakingly beautiful and diverse landscapes on the planet.

The sand flats of the great Thar Desert in western Rajasthan; the sacred snow peaks of Garwahl and Kumaon; Kerala’s tea plantations and backwaters; the fortified crags of the Western Ghats in Maharashtra; and sublime, empty beaches of the southwest. All offer distinct atmosphere’s that are a world away from the frenzy of India’s cities.

Because the majority of our tours are conducted overland, you’ll have ample opportunity to experience many extraordinary landscapes in the course of your holiday, whichever region you opt to travel in. If scenery and wilderness are a priority, however, we can also devise routes that delve more deeply into India’s wild side, focussing on national parks and remoter regions that have altered little since first surveyed by the British in the 19th century.
