Itinerary for Taiwan Experience
Arrive in Taipei and transfer to the Lealea hotel or similar for two nights.
Take a tour of the city today, proceed to Longshan Temple, which houses many statues of Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian deities. Visit Dihu Street, the old-town market, selling a variety of traditional goods. Continue to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and the National Palace Museum. This afternoon, visit Martyr’s Shrine, before ending at Taipei 101, once the tallest building in the world.
Drive to the National Center for Traditional Arts at Yilan County, before continuing on to Qingshui Cliff, on Taiwan’s Pacific coast. Proceed to Taroko National Park, known for its spectacular marble canyon. Visit Taroko Gateway this afternoon, before checking into the Leader Village Lodge hotel or similar for two nights.
Explore the area today with the guide. Visit Fushi Village, Eternal Spring Shrine, Tunnel of Nine Turns, Swallow Grotto and Tianxiang Scenic Area.
Drive to Taitung via the East Coast National Scenic Area, unique in its terrain and ecology. En-route visit Siaoyeliou, a natural stone sculptural park. Arrive in Taitung and check in to Royal Chihpen Hot Spring Resort or similar for the night.
Chihpen, Fo Guang Shan
Drive to Fo Guang Shan, the biggest monastery in Taiwan. Visit the Main Shrine, Buddhist Museum and Buddha Memorial Center. Stay overnight at the Pilgrim Lodge. Have a vegetarian dinner in the monastery.
Fo Guang Shan, Alishan
Proceed to Alishan National Scenic Area, renowned for its waterfalls, cherry blossoms and mountain trails in the Forest Recreation Area. Stay at the Alishan Guest House hotel or similar for the night.
Alishan, Sun Moon Lake
This morning, proceed to Sun Moon Lake, and take a boat cruise on the lake. Visit Wenwu Temple, an excellent vista point overlooking the Lake. Stay at the LeaLea Garden Hotel or similar for the night. Optional excursion: Sunrise mountain train ride.
Sun Moon Lake, Taipei
Visit Tehua village, to learn the history of the Tsao Tribe. Also view the Syuentzang Temple, housing the relic of Xuanzang, a Tang Dynasty monk who brought back over 650 sutras from India. Explore a tea plantation, before proceeding back to Taipei. Stay at the Lealea Hotel or similar for two nights.
Day is at leisure.
