Using sketches, original photos, information boards and other pieces of evocative memorabilia, the Changi Prison Museum tells the stories of some of those civilians and soldiers who were interred in this hell-hole after the Fall of Singapore in 1942. Among the most famous of them was a young British artillery office by the name of James Clavell, who later drew on his war-time experiences to write the best selling novel, King Rat. Played in a reconstructed cell, recordings of survivor testimonies recall the cruelties of daily life in the prison, in excruciating detail.
