The only one of the seven Emirates to sit on the eastern coast of the peninsular with a backdrop of the Hajar Mountains. While the industrial city itself has little to offer Fujairah’s beaches are some of the nicest in the UAE, ideal for sun-worshipers, open water swimmers and scuba divers.
Away from the sand, Fujairah is a great base for exploring the Hajar Mountains and the series of historical buildings, small forts and mosques that dot the coastline including Al-Bidyah Mosque, the oldest in the seven kingdoms, Fujira Rort, Bithnah Fort and a host of museums with excellent exhibits of Bronze and Iron Age weaponry, painted pottery, carved soapstone vessels, and pre-Islamic silver coins.

Al-Bidyah, the oldest mosque in the United Arab Emirates, about 35 kilometres north of Fujairah city, is one of the country's, and the Emirate of Fujairah's, most important historical sites.
