One of the few hotels in Chengdu built in traditional Chinese style, this boutique property in the heart of the downtown area offers a comfortable, relaxing and good value base for city sightseeing. Close to the Wenshu Temple, it’s located in a recently restored heritage enclave of low-rise, tile-roofed artisan shops that are a delight to browse in the day, but peaceful after hours.
Varnished, dark-wood floors and printed silk screens lend an exotic atmosphere to the rooms, which are arrayed on three floors around a central courtyard. It’s well worth booking a larger one with a balcony if you’re planning to spend a couple of nights in Chengdu while visiting the panda base and Qing Cheng Shan. Buddha Zen also has an in-house restaurant and spa, which past TransIndus clients have praised for its wonderful foot massages!
