Koh Phi Phi’s famous limestone cliffs surge sheer from beaches of brilliant turquoise water, gleaming white sand and lush carpets of tropical vegetation – the quintessential Thai paradise. There are actually two islands, located 25 miles (40km) south of Krabi: the larger one, Phi Phi Don, to the north, with its symmetrical double bays of Ao Ton Sai and Ao Loh Dalum; and uninhabited Phi Phi Ley to the south, renowned as the location for Danny Boyle’s 1999 film, The Beach.
