Luang Prabang, Laos
Set in the hills, surrounded by lush greenery and with a river running through its centre, yet just a 10 minute drive from the centre of Luang Prabang, Rosewood is a haven of tranquility, and a convenient base for exploring the sights. Just 23 spacious rooms, including riverside rooms, pool villas and luxury tents make up the resort, with interiors inspired by the French-Lao architecture, for which the town is known. All rooms have a private balcony and the hilltop luxury tents, designed using colourful textiles used by the areas’s hill tribes, have their own dining areas and wrap-around decks from which to enjoy the sweeping panoramas.
The resort has three distinct riverside dining options, all adopting a contemporary farm-to-table concept that embraces locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, some from the hotel’s own organic garden itself. The Bistro specialises in regional Lao dishes, snacks and hand-crafted cocktails can be found at the Elephant Bridge Bar and western favourites are served Poolside.
Relax on the large day beds by the oval-shaped swimming pool at the heart of the property, with the sound of flowing water from the nearby natural waterfall, or indulge at the mountainside spa.
