Luang Prabang, Laos
This enchanting boutique hotel, a restored colonial mansion, is set in a quiet neighbourhood of Luang Prabang, just a few minutes’ walk from the hustle and bustle, and it is one of our favourites for it’s traditional Laos style and charm. The former childhood villa of a Laos Prince, the house was loving restored and converted into a hotel in 2002. With just 31 rooms, Satri House has been designed to still feel like a home, with traditional Laos designs blending beautifully with colonial inspirations. Dark furniture, four poster beds, large ceiling fans and an eclectic selection of hand-picked artwork and antiques decorate the rooms, with most also coming with a private balcony or terrace.
The elegant restaurant overlooks the gardens and serves delicious Lao delicacies as well as a range of Western and Asian specialities. There is also a garden bar, library, outdoor swimming pool and a spa.
