Bhutan

We were delighted when we stumbled upon this fabulous little property during a recce of the Haa Valley a few years back. Few lodges in Bhutan occupy genuine period farmhouses, especially at the more affordable end of the spectrum, but the experience here is authentic and genuinely local. The century-old complex holds only five rooms, distributed over two upper floors; none are particularly large but they are lovingly decorated and fitted with traditional wood-framed windows overlooking the fields. The former farmyard has been planted with a simple garden where you can relax outdoors in the afternoons. Many TransIndus clients have praised the meals serve here as the best on their entire trip. Lechuna is an option particularly recommended for any keen walkers at it sits at the nexus of numerous trails: you could conceivably spend days exploring the hamlets, monasteries and forests around Haa, which is among the most secluded and unspoilt districts in Bhutan.
