Located directly opposite the famous Chinese fishing nets in the heart of Fort Cochin, the Tower House is a beautifully restored, double-fronted 19th-century residence whose elegant scallop walls bear traces of Portuguese and Dutch influence. Inside, high, wood-lined ceilings and huge rooms with tall windows create a feeling of airiness and space that’s unusual for the district.

Antique prints and furniture underline the old-world ambience, though there’s a lovely modern pool in the adjacent walled garden to lounge in.
