This cosy boutique property on the edge of Jaisalmer’s Old Town has all the trappings of a traditional desert haveli, complete with projecting balconies, richly carved ‘jali’ stone screens and onion-dome roofs, but the building is, contrary to appearances, less than a decade old! Inside, a more contemporary feel comes to the fore. Pistachio-, coral- and lapis-coloured wall coverings with stencilled Rajasthani paisleys create an opulent feel in the bedrooms. In the garden, the pool is pint sized, but ideal for lounging beside in the afternoon, with luxurious canopied day beds under the tamarind trees. Dinner is served on a splendid rooftop terrace boasting a panoramic view of the fort, floodlit after dark. In short: a stylish, relaxing base in a quiet neighbourhood, with heaps of Rajput character, al fresco dining and great vistas.
