Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan, India
Another option conveniently close to the gates of Ranthambore is Tiger Moon, whose air-conditioned, red-tiled cottages are scattered around an enclosed campus of lawns and woodland.
In a previous incarnation, the site used to house the park wardens, so the architecture isn’t much to write home about. But the staff can’t do enough to please, and the hotel as a whole is very well maintained and a relaxing retreat, with a large, kidney-shaped pool and lots of trees that teem with exotic birdlife. Evening meals are usually barbeques featuring live puppet shows and Rajasthani folk dancing around an open fire in the garden.
Our opinion
Tiger Moon is a budget hotel in a pretty woodland setting close to the entrance of the park gates.
