Day 2
Mumbai

On arrival in Mumbai you will be received and greeted by our local representative who will escort you into the city in a private chauffeur driven car and assist with the check-in at the Mumbai hotel for 2 nights. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Depending on the time of your arrival you may want to consider a short 2 hour leisurely afternoon visit to the ancient rock-cut cave temples of Elephanta Island across the bay. Here you can see beautiful bas reliefs carved into granite stone. The most iconic of them is the three-headed ‘Trimurti’ representing the three aspects of the God Shiva.

Day 3
Mumbai

Today we have an early start. We leave the hotel at dawn for an early morning tour of this bustling metropolis. We head to a nearby fishing village to catch the fishing boats arrive in time for the sale of some of the freshest fish in the city. Later we head to the fruit, vegetable and flower market and travel through the city on an orientation tour of some of the city’s iconic colonial architecture. We return to the hotel for a late breakfast and for some much deserved R&R. Late afternoon, we venture out to explore Dhobi Ghat, thought to be the biggest open air laundry in the world. Established during the British Raj in 1890, Dhobi Ghat continues to thrive today, despite washing machines. The laundry has over 7,000 washer men and women working around the clock at this heritage site.
