Bhuj, West India, India

The Prince is typical of many small, mid-range three-stars in provincial Gujarati market towns. It’s neither grand nor particularly stylish, but gets the basics right, with clean rooms, bedding and bathrooms, and helpful, well trained staff.

Most of its guests are business visitors wanting a peaceful night’s sleep in a central location, and they return to the Prince time and again.

The hotel, however, boasts one really outstanding feature: its Gujarati thali restaurant, Toral, on the first floor of the building. People literally queue down the stairs to get a table here on weekends, thanks to the fragrant local cuisine, served in air-con comfort.

Our opinion

A modest three star hotel in Bhuj, one of the best in town.
