Maldives

This ethnic resort is set on an island with great beaches and vegetation. Snorkelling here is exceptional with the house reef only a short swim away from the beach, and diving in this area is among the best in the region.

It has 99 beach bungalows and 16 water bungalows, all of which are simple and elegant with plenty of natural wood. It enjoys a reputation for serving excellent food in its main restaurant, coffee shop and beach buffets and barbeques. There is a well-run dive centre as well. The island is a 35-minute seaplane ride from Male.
