Dubai, the heart of the Arabian Desert is a city of superlatives; the tallest buildings, the most decadent hotels, fanciest cocktails, largest malls, the cleanest mono-rail etc.  Beyond the beaches and glitz this larger-than-life metropolis has plenty to offer including glorious sandy beaches, family fun, grand romantic hotels an impressive food scene and shopping that is out of this world.

Adventurers are also well catered for, as a trip to Dubai can include everything from indoor skydiving and skiing to quad biking, camel riding and dessert safaris. The number one pastime in Dubai remains shopping some of the world most impressive souks and malls and even if you don't intend to buy anything, experiencing the gold souk or designer boutiques offers a glimpse of how the other half live!

Beyond the glorious sun-soaked beaches, traditional souks and ultra-modern malls here are a few of the must do’s in Dubai:

-Visit The Burj Khalifa, the tallest free-standing structure in the world.

-Experience the Al Fahidi Quarter, also known as the Bastakia, the last remaining fragment of Old Dubai.

-An early evening on a traditional Dhow Boat cruise along the Dubai Creek that slices the city into two as it heads into the heart of the old town.

-The adventurous should head for the desert to enjoy a host of activities including a four-wheel-drive dune bashing, a dune-buggy ride or sand boarding, camel trekking, hiking and camping beneath the stars.

-Bird watchers should seek out the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, to spot the majestic pink flamingos and other birds in winter months.

-Enjoy a theatre production, ballet, orchestral production or a live stage show at the Dubai Opera House.

-If not staying at the landmark property, head for the Skyview Bar of the Burj al-Arab. Reserve an afternoon for high tea or an evening cocktail, just for the experience.
