Kalpitiya, Colombo & the West Coast, Sri Lanka

Located on Sri Lanka’s west coast at Kalpitiya, Palagama Beach is the vision of Cecil Balmond, who wanted to mix Sri Lankan design with contemporary style. The result is an award-winning traditional beach ‘village’ made from local materials with cabanas and villas scattered on the sands and between the palm trees.

The food is primarily Sri Lankan so expect string hoppers and delicious curries on the menu. If you feel you have over indulged, then there are plenty of activities to keep you busy at Palagama Beach. Cycle through the nearby village, take a boat ride on the lagoon or learn the skill of kite surfing.  Yoga classes and spa therapies are also available. Nature lovers also enjoy this region as dolphins can be seen off the coast from November to April and Wilpattu National Park is only 1 ½ hours away.
