Udawalawe National Park, Galle and the South Coast, Sri Lanka

Located just 15 minutes away from the gates of the Udawalawe National Park, Kalu’s Hideaway is owned by Sri Lankan cricketer Mr Romesh Kaluwitharana. Set on five acres of manicured gardens, Kalu’s offers comfortable accommodation with 14 rooms and a choice of Standard Room, Deluxe Room, Suite or Chalet. There is a swimming pool and restaurant serving local cuisine.

Excursions can be made to the Waulpane limestone cave. Nearly a quarter of a million bats have made their home amongst its stalactites and stalagmites so it is no wonder it is also called ‘the kingdom of the bats’.  By far the most popular activity from Kalu’s  is spending time in Udawalawe National Park and its nearby Elephant Transit Centre. Supported by the Born Free Foundation, the centre rescues injured elephants with the aim to get them back into the wild.
