Sri Lanka 20.06.2025 Amrit Singh
The small and beautiful island of Sri Lanka is jam packed full of exciting experiences for inquisitive travellers from ancient monuments and centuries old traditions, to remote tribal villages, historic trades routes, nature trails and wildlife, through to unabashed pampering and relaxation that won’t break the bank.
Having spent two glorious weeks absorbing the very best of Sri Lanka’s western coast and ancient cities like a child in a candy shop, I know where I’d choose to end my tour every time I return to these stunning tropical shores.
Tucked deep in the countryside overlooking tea, coffee, cinnamon, pepper and rubber plantations, the Rosyth Estate is where Farzana and Neil help guests slow the pace and unwind midst lush, tropical gardens.
Your arrival begins with a foot spa and mornings start with a simple vedic chant and yoga, if you are keen! Food is always fresh with much of it sourced from surrounding plantations and villages and prepared to suit your taste. You could wander out into the Estate with one of the in-house naturalists to explore the plantations and perhaps gather a few ingredients yourself.
You mustn’t forget to visit the Estate‘s tea processing factory, the only one on the island that still uses the traditional hand-processing methods for curling, curing, drying and packing leaves plucked the very same morning. If you are bright and early you can join the ladies through the whole process from plucking to process and packing your own crop.
At the end of the day, I’d thoroughly recommend a gentle Ayurvedic massage one of the house masseuse to evoke a sense of complete well-being, before your settle down to a nice class, Chardonnay or bubbly before supper. Perfect!
