Visitors to Iran often identify this as their favourite hotel in the country. Its location, close to Vakil Bazaar and within easy reach of most of the historic sights, couldn’t be better, while the architecture, with its handsome mud-brick façade, makes an attempt to blend in with older landmarks in the area. The rooms are of a generous size and, for once, the interiors are a delight, featuring luxurious hardwoods, brocaded silk and traditional Islamic motifs. Some have balconies overlooking the Darwaza Koran gateway and Karim Khan’s citadel. Service is smiling and the food in the restaurant top notch.
