Day 1
London to Colombo

Fly from London to Colombo

Day 2
Bentota

Arrive in Colombo airport and drive to the south west beaches of Bentota for 2 nights at Cinnamon Bey Resort. After checking you, you have the remainder of the day at leisure to relax and enjoy the facilities. We reccommed visiting a Sea Turtle Conservation Programme from your resort if you are keen on nature, wildlife or if travelling with young children.

Day 3 to 8
Bentota on the Beach

You will spend the next couple of days at leisure on the beach. Current Covid rules will require you to take a Covid-19 PCR test on arrival at your hotel and again on Day 6 or 7 (Published January 2021)

Day 9
Galle

This morning drive to the historic fort of Galle (1 hour 30 mins away) before you continue the climb up the high ranges to Ella, a small town surrounded by beautiful tea plantations. Here you will stay for nights at 98 Acres Resort and explore the surrounding area.

Ella

Enjoy a walk in the hills and through the plantations today with possible visits to Demodara Loop, Lipton’s Seat and Nine Arch Bridge. You can also learn about how tea is made and visit a local factory.

Day 11
Ella to Kandy

Drive to Ella station and board the local passenger train to Peradeniya passing through valleys with scenic views. Arriving at Peradeniya, you will be met and transferred to the former capital city of Kandy for 2 nights at Cinnamon Citadel on the banks of the Mahaweli River.

Kandy

This morning explore Kandy's botanical gardens along with the markets in the town. In the afternoon visit the Temple of the Tooth and view the Buddha's tooth inside.

Day 13
Dambulla

Drive north to the heart of the ancient cities today with a stop at a spice plantation on the way. You will also visit the Dambulla caves to see the Buddhist monuments & temples inside. Stay for two nights at Cinnamon Lodge Hotel in the village of Habarana overlooking a reservoir - excellent for bird watching.

Sigiriya

No holiday to Sri Lanka is complete without a trip to Sigiriya. Today, wake early to climb the famous rock fortress of Sigiriya for spectacular views of the surrounding forest. Return to your hotel for a late breakfast and then drive to the ancient capital city of Polonnuwara to see the ruins there.

Negombo

Drive back to the western coast and stay in Negombo, a fishing town on the coast just north of the airport. Stay at the Jetwing Blue Hotel for one night with the afternoon at leisure.

Return to the UK

Transfer to the Colombo airport & fly back to UK landing the same evening.
